Job Responsibilities
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
- Create innovative menu items and ensure consistent quality
- Manage kitchen staff, including training and supervising
- Monitor food and labor costs to maintain budgetary guidelines
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with management to develop seasonal promotions and special events
- Oversee inventory management and ordering of supplies
- Handle any kitchen-related issues or emergencies
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and industry best practices
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and creativity in menu planning
- Culinary degree or relevant certification
- Prior experience in a high-volume restaurant setting
- Experience in creating and costing menu items
- Knowledge of South African and international cuisine
- Experience with menu development and adaptation
- Familiarity with kitchen management software
