The Independent Institute of Educations Central Academic Team (CAT) is responsible for the academic leadership and governance of the work done at the tertiary and schools brands.
The IIEs Central Academic Team have a vacancy for an Academic Advisor (Schools Division) at The IIEs offices based in Sandton.
Reporting To
The Academic Advisor will report to the Academic Head of the ADvTECH Schools Division.
Level And Scope Of Responsibility
The academic advisor will be part of the Central Academic Team and work alongside other academic advisors and manage various work streams of projects, with a focus on the Intersen Phase. The academic advisor is responsible for the projects they are assigned to and must ensure that there is academic alignment and support when working with Schools, Academic Head of Brands and leadership Teams. The academic advisor will manage their portfolio and will be expected to give feedback on their streams of work.
The academic advisor will implement and support the execution of the Academic excellence strategy within the schools division and will be expected to lead, facilitate and co-ordinate the effective and impactful implementation of the academic programs and projects across the ADvTECH schools, particularly in the Intersen Phase.
The academic advisor will be expected to conduct professional development and workshops for teachers within the scope pf their portfolio. In addition, the academic advisor will be responsible to track, evaluate and monitor the implementation of projects and assess the impact in heat maps and formal reports
Key Areas Of Responsibility Include
Intersen Phase Projects
Develops Intersen phase projects which support schools in best practices which include, yet not limited to the following:
- The academic advisor will review and revise the Global Competencies framework every year as a blueprint for schools to understand and implement the Global Competency plans for each year.
- The academic advisor will go to schools and provide workshops on best practice for Intersen Phase academic opportunities for teachers and provide training on an ad hoc basis when the schools request support.
- Keeps records of all workshops and school visits and uses this information to help identify future needs and support plans.
- Redefine the Intersen Phase school assessment and reporting and lead and manage the roll out of this with the IT team.
- Liaise with the Foundation Phase and Senior phase advisers for building cross phase links in teaching, learning and assessment projects.
- To provide a board report quarterly on projects they manage to assess and understand the impact.
- Monitor and manage the rollout of unique digital learning platforms, across schools, particularly in the Intersen Phase.
- Track usage of the platform by schools and brands.
- BEd
- SACE registered
- Ideally a Post-graduate qualification in education
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years Teaching experience
- School based leadership experience as a deputy head or HOD
