ACCOUNTANT

Applications are invited from interested persons, who meet the minimum requirements, to fill the above-mentioned position at the Western Cape Office (Ottery). The incumbent will be appointed on contract basis.
POSITION PURPOSE
Preparation of financial reports up to trial balance and supervising staff. Ensuring all accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
KEY OUTPUTS
- Accounting
- Review and posting of batches captured
- Review accounts receivable age analysis
- Review accounts payable age analysis
- Ensure all reconciliations are performed monthly
- Ensure all reconciling items are captured timeously
- Review and analysis of reconciliations
- Ensure the advances are paid timeously
- Analyze site expense data and ensure adherence to SLA’s
- Payments
- Review and approve daily payments
- Attend to queries arising from daily payments
- Analysis of the General Ledger, Trial Balance and Income statement
- Review supporting documentation for general ledger accounts
- Prepares and processes journals in the system
- Year End Audit
- Prepares monthly and annual audit schedule
- Prepares relevant financial documents during audit process
- People management
- Trains and develops team competency on relevant financial policies and procedures
- Staff management
- Staff appraisals
- Ensure deadlines are met with regards to cut off and reporting
- Compliance
- Review financial accounting policies as and when required
- Ensure compliance with IFRS
- Funder Reporting
- Reviews in preparation of advance and expense report for various funders within the team
- Drafting of different funder monthly & quarterly reports for FM approval.
- Review monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Prepares allocated funder reports
- Prepare ad hoc reports
COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES) REQUIRED
- Sound knowledge of excel
- B Com accounting qualification
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience
- Accounting package experience essential
- Ability to work independently in a high-pressured environment in order to deliver under tight deadlines
- Ability to manage a small team
- Pays careful attention to detail
