Job Introduction
G4S South Africa, a leading provider of integrated security and cash management solutions, has a vacancy for an Accountant based at our operations in Centurion, reporting to the Financial Manager.
The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which an accountant plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.
The position requires at least 3-5 years experience within an finance/ accounting environment. Relevant industry related experience would be advantageous.

Role Responsibility
Accountant.
This role is responsible for the accurate periodic reporting, monitoring of the day to day ESS financial functions, together with project and inventory analysis.
Expense / Inventory Management
- Posting and querying cellphone / data costs
- Posting and querying vehicle related costs
- Reporting valid variances to management
- Liaise with regions to arrange monthly stock takes
- Processing inventory quantity and valuation variances
- Managing stock codes on ERP system
- Compiling monthly profitability per site
- Assisting with analysing and investigating any anomalies
- Distributing profitability Operations
- Comparing actual profitability with budgeted and optimal GM%
- Assist with monthly profitability
- Compare budgeted/forecasted results to actual or expected results in order to identify inaccuracies
- Ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures
- Assist with budget and forecasts
- Review the detailed 12 month report with FM before month end close-off to raise accruals
- Capture accrued income after liaison with Financial Manager and AR clerk
- Assist with labour vs revenue recon
- Uploading financial packs / flash
- Detailed triangle balancing with financial accountant, AR & ER
- Review rollers
- Assist FM with labour related functions
- Analyse project efficiencies and profitabilities
- Managing and executing Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Compile monthly regional profit and loss statements
- Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the departmental safety plans for each year
- Participate in safety forums created by the company for example safety meetings and safety talks
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Discuss all safety incidents
- Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management
- Attend safety education and refresher programs
- Comply with safety policies and procedures at the workplace
- Distribute safety information as and when required
Qualification and Experience
- Relevant Tertiary qualification recommended (Degree or Diploma)
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience within a costing environment
- Knowledge of Financial principles and practices
- MS Office (Excel Advanced)
