The Department

As the Finance department, we deliver timeously to the senior management and shareholders of the organisation, to assist with their decision-making processes in driving the business.
Purpose Of The Role
This role reports into the Statutory Manager and is responsible for assisting with the preparation and administration related to the audit, accounting, month end and year end processes. This role works closely with the Statutory Managers, Group Audit Specialist, and statutory accountants.
Duties Include, But Not Limited To
Audit reviews
Year-end audit files (External) and Quarterly audit files (Internal)
- Assist in uploads of audit files onto audit portals.
- Assist with follow-up of overdue audit items.
- Maintain audit folders as per company best practice.
- Assist in finalization of audit files for submission to auditors.
- Assist with setting up the audit files, including gathering predetermined supporting documents from Floqast or team members ahead of the audits (e.g. bank statements, minutes of meetings, new agreements, resolutions, internal audit reports etc). This can be maintained monthly throughout the year to ease year end pressure.
- Assist in gathering of relevant supporting documents (from NAV or relevant team members) selected by the auditors for testing (e.g. invoices for sampling)
- Roll forward reporting for submissions for regulated markets e.g. MGA.
- Maintain reports as per standard templates.
- Ad hoc reporting as required by management such as STATSSA requests.
- Save all statutory information such as share certificates and directors register for all entities on server.
- Ensure early roll over of all reports for the new month.
- Ensure that large balances are supported by an explanation and corroborating evidence.
- Maintain reports as per standard templates.
- Import headcounts.
- Copy over Floqast statutory files and update.
- Agree all share capital to all relevant statutory documents and ensure that all investments are posted.
- Roll forward tax files - Gaming tax and VAT, Corporate tax, normal VAT, withholding taxes, reverse VAT.
- Save submitted returns, follow up on returns not received.
- Maintain the tax mailbox.
Essential Criteria
- B.Com. finance degree/SAIPA/Bookkeeping qualification or similar.
- Financial accounting/bookkeeping experience.
- Experience with the audit process, in particular in dealing directly with auditors at current or previous employer.
- Demonstrates consistent behavior aligned to the organizational culture.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in Navision.
