- The Company financial year end is the 31st of December hence limited leave may be granted in December
- Overtime might be required during month ends or financial year end
This role will assume full responsibility for Gilbarcos accounting in assigned countries. This includes ensuring compliance with local, group, US GAAP, and government regulations. Driving process improvement will also be a key aspect of the role.
This role is a leadership position and providing support, mentoring, and coaching is an important part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Tax
- Manage the accounting and tax functions
- Develop, monitor and revise policies regarding compliance to Taxation legislation
- Manage financial reporting and preparation for year-end consolidated accounts
- Handle personally or approve general ledger reconciliations monthly
- Manage group balance sheet reviews, and internal audits
- Complete payroll taxes on an ad hoc basis
- Ensuring full compliance will all relevant tax regulation
- Actively bring forward ideas and strategies to improve compliance
- Collate and analyse monthly results and report to management and Group with high degree of accuracy within agreed monthly deadlines
- Management of the year end and audit process
- Detailed examination of all financial records, prior to financial year end and report thereon
- Finalisation of statutory financial statements
- Manage the companys insurance portfolio and annual insurance declarations
- Liaise with insurance brokers regarding claims and insurance matters
- Implement strategies to maximize positive Cash Inflows as relates to Rand and Foreign Bank Accounts
- Management of the treasury function including relationship with primary bankers
- Management of the companys reserve bank applications
- Ad Hoc assignments such as due diligence evaluations and post investments audits
- Manage the output of staff members within the team, including interns and trainees
- Liaise between teams to facilitate smooth interaction and problem solving
- Provide development an guidance to help staff reach their potential
- Regularly review and manage staff performance, recognising high performance and ensuring poor performance is corrected
- Ensure that Management intentions are communicated to Finance staff
- Ensure staff achieve all deadlines
- Ensure staff adhere to company policy and procedures

- Clean balance sheet accounts achieved through effective balance sheet reconciliations and processes in place for resolution
- Minimal tax audits due to quality of tax return submissions
- Minimal business queries due to tax return and financial statement non-compliance
- High customer satisfaction from Global Controllership team due to SLAs being met and reporting being accurate and complete
Education/achievements
Required
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Registered Chartered Accountant
- Previous finance, billing, accounts payable or accounts receivable experience
- Previous experience using an ERP systems
- Previous experience leading a team
- Preferred
- SAP Business 1 knowledge
- Big 4 auditing experience
- High attention to detail and accuracy with methodical working methods
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint & Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong English written skills with exemplary spelling
