Actuarial Product Specialist Team Lead

RPO's client in the insurance space is currently hiring for an Actuarial Product Specialist Team Lead. The candidate be primarily responsible for the management of retail discretionary participation business. The candidate may also assist with the development and management of corporate structured and/or guaranteed investments.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight, evaluation, and projection of assets and liabilities.
  • Identifying improvements and obtaining approval from governance forums.
  • Assisting in developing corporate structured/guaranteed investments.
  • Conducting quantitative analysis and solution research.
  • Engaging stakeholders and preparing product approval documents.
  • Reviewing and proposing changes to management actions.
  • Recommending bonus rates (interim, final, claim, reversionary, or terminal).
  • Reviewing and updating the bonus philosophy and creating new smoothing formulas.
  • Building, updating, or reviewing models to quantify financial impacts.
  • Proposing changes to the segment Principles and Practices of Financial Management (PPFM).
  • Managing statutory and contractual requirements.
  • Mitigating financial, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Ensuring administration systems adhere to contractual obligations.
  • Adding governance to manual processes to mitigate operational risks.
  • Reviewing legal documentation (client contracts, counterparty agreements, etc.).
  • Actuarial, compliance, and performance reporting.
  • Establishing and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Driving projects to completion within timelines.
  • Undertaking ad-hoc actuarial tasks and resolving technical queries.
  • Managing a small team, delegating work, reviewing, and ensuring staff development.
Requirements
  • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary
  • At least five (5) years relevant experience preferred
  • Experience with RiskAgility Financial Modeller will be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of discretionary participation business as well as structured and/or guaranteed investments
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • High attention to detail and quality orientation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
