Purpose of Position:

To process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Molecular Biology Laboratory.

Requirements:

HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field, Relevant BSc Degree (Required)

Required Experience:

Experiential training in a training laboratory, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)

Key Responsibilities:

Analyse specimens on the different detection platforms in order to ensure efficient delivery of results, Assist with the development and evaluation of new assays when required, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath, Monitor stock levels and report to seniors and staff responsible for the materials management of the department, Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld, Perform HIV, HCV, HBV, CMV viral loads efficiently to ensure acceptable turn around times, Process specimens in the extraction area in order to ensure efficient delivery of results in the detection area
