Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description
  • Consistently apply safety and health principles in all site interactions, ensuring compliance within and beyond your work area.
  • Promote excellent housekeeping practices to ensure a safe and compliant environment, facilitating controlled risk management and operational efficiency.
  • Engage actively in Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) activities, risk assessments, and the closure of safety actions, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the specific business processes supported by the ERP system, such as finance, human resources, supply chain, or manufacturing.
  • Provide expertise on how the ERP system supports these business functions, ensuring users can effectively leverage it to meet their needs.
  • Configure ERP modules and functionalities to align with business requirements, ensuring the system supports operational workflows and processes.
  • Evaluate existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement using the ERP system. This involves mapping processes, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending enhancements.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement process improvements facilitated by the ERP system, ensuring that changes enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Track the impact of process changes on business performance and adjust ERP configurations as needed to optimise results.
  • Create and update training materials, including user manuals, quick reference guides, and online resources, to help users understand and effectively use the ERP system.
  • Deliver training sessions and workshops for new and existing users, focusing on how to use ERP functionalities relevant to their roles.
  • Assist users with issues and questions related to the ERP system, offering solutions and guidance to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Compile and generate reports and dashboards to provide insights into key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, and business performance.
  • Analyse data from the ERP system to support business decision-making, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Customize reporting tools and templates to meet business needs and ensure accurate and relevant reports.
  • Set up and configure ERP modules to match business processes and requirements, ensuring the system is tailored to support organisational needs.
  • Work with developers or consultants to customise ERP functionality and features, including creating custom fields, workflows, and reports.
  • Ensure system configurations and customisations are updated and maintained in line with software upgrades and changes.
  • Support ERP implementation projects by providing functional expertise, participating in project planning, and ensuring that the system meets business requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, IT teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful ERP project delivery and address functional requirements and concerns.
  • Participate in system testing and validation to ensure that ERP configurations and customisations function correctly and meet business needs.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
  • Troubleshoot and resolve functional issues related to the ERP system, working with users to identify problems and implement solutions.
  • Escalate complex issues to the ERP Technologist or vendor support teams as needed, ensuring timely resolution of critical problems.
  • Maintain documentation of issues, resolutions, and changes made to the ERP system to facilitate ongoing support and future troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with various departments (e.g., finance, P&O, operations) to understand their ERP needs and ensure the system supports their processes.
  • Inform users and stakeholders of system updates, changes, and new features, ensuring they are aware of and can adapt to modifications.
  • Collect user feedback on system performance and functionality, using this input to drive continuous improvement and address any issues.
  • Verify that ERP processes and data management practices comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Support the implementation of security measures to protect ERP data from unauthorised access and ensure that sensitive information is handled appropriately.
  • Stay informed about new ERP features, modules, and industry trends. Evaluate their potential benefits and recommend enhancements to the system.
  • Contribute to developing long-term strategies for ERP usage, ensuring that the system evolves to meet future business needs and supports organisational growth.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12/N3 Technical
  • National Diploma (NQF6) in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business Information Systems
  • SAP Certified Application Associate), Oracle (Oracle Certified Associate), Microsoft Dynamics, or other relevant ERP platforms
  • SA Drivers Licence
Technical Knowledge
  • Understand ERP system architecture, including its modules and integration points.
  • In-depth knowledge of core business processes (e.g., finance, HR, supply chain) and how ERP systems support them.
  • Knowledge of data management practices, including data entry, validation, and reporting within the ERP system.
  • Understand ERP system customisation and configuration options to meet specific business requirements.
  • Familiarity with ERP reporting tools and analytics to generate and interpret business reports.
