Job Description
The CIB Tech Markets team is looking for a highly motivated business facing Application Support Engineer to provide support for critical business applications. Extensive experience in Linux scripting and a proven track record of providing application support in a fast-paced financial environment is essential. This is a shift-based position, requiring the ability to work flexible hours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support for business-critical applications, including troubleshooting, triaging, and resolving issues for incidents and service requests.
- Work with developers, infrastructure teams, and business users to identify and resolve application issues, maintain system availability, and resolve any problems that may arise.
- Create and maintain automation scripts and tools to monitor and support the application.
- Manage and triage application issues, resolving directly or escalating to other teams as necessary.
- Work closely with internal teams and customers in a highly collaborative and communicative environment.
- Support the development and implementation of incident management processes, including tracking, reporting, and insuring timely resolution of issues.
- Write technical documentation and operational procedures for use by other technical support teams.
- Continually improve the monitoring, alerting, and incident remediation procedures.
- Monitor application modification requests and ensure best practices are being utilised
- Conduct diagnostic investigations of program errors and implement or recommend solutions or methodologies for resolution.
- Maintain metrics of operational performance and evaluate trends
- Analyse business systems to determine effectiveness, identify inadequacies, inefficiencies and problems and recommend solutions
- Enhance methods and procedures for collecting, analysing, and documenting application issues, and completing user change requests.
- Enhance IT processes for transitioning completed configurations from development to production.
- Plan and coordinate the processes for the provision of user applications and systems necessary for business operations.
- Define and maintain application assessment, development, and support standards, and work with other IT and business stakeholders to establish configuration and use guidelines.
- Provide inputs to availability and capacity management process for effective planning.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or related field, preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Application Support, with a strong focus on Linux scripting.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including shift work and weekend/on-call rotations.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as AzureDevOps, Github Actions, Jenkins or similar, preferred
- Hands-on experience with ticket logging and incident management tools
- Experience with working in an Agile or DevOps culture will be advantageous
- Proficiency in writing scripts using Bash or Python.
- Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting application issues in a heterogeneous environment.
- Understanding of application integration and architecture.
- Experience in working with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
