Job Summary
Sensient Technologies is a globally unique supplier for a full range of sensory excipients, and highly recognized for its high quality and innovative product range. This specifically includes the sale of flavors to the food and beverage industry. The Application Technologist Flavors position performs flavor application of sweet, beverage, confectionery and savory products, and carries out programs and projects involving flavor systems in order to build new sales and reinforce existing ones. This position requires excellent communication and administrative skills with the customers in order to meet their needs.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for flavor application activities and support Sensient technical resources to ensure project success.
- Create and develop application formulations, and optimize according to customer needs.
- Perform spray drying, compounding, application and manufacturing support for flavors.
- Assist in flavor technical application discussions with customers and Sales Account Managers using the various technical information tools available.
- Understand customer product formulations and perform development and troubleshooting strategies to insure successful addition of flavor in liquid and dry applications.
- Recommend optimal product selection based on customers desired target markets and associated regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the international technical teams.
- Support business strategy to enable localized flavor production and deliver on cost savings within timelines.
- Support communications between the customer and Sensients Regulatory department.
- Understand the key features and benefits of Sensients flavor portfolio and technologies.
- Coordinate Sensients product sampling to customers in a timely fashion with close cooperation with the sample lab and documentation.
- Prepare project reports, sample reports, and lab work reports.
- Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team to deliver on assigned tasks.
- University degree (B.Sc. or higher) in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of five years experience in flavor application with an emphasis on sweet and beverage related food products.
- Understanding of the development, production and application of food ingredients.
- Knowledge of beverage formulations, as well as knowledge of the impact of processing parameters on flavor performance.
- Knowledge of Project Management and Analytical Analysis preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and keep track of multiple projects in an effective manner.
- Very good English language skills (fluent in spoken and written), other additional language proficiencies are an advantage
- Very good knowledge of MS Office; Experience with JD Edwards and/or other business database software tools used to request samples, maintain accurate accountabilities in note books of new product developments, and capture notes of key customer interactions according to company format protocols.
