Job Description
The Transversal Application Services (TAPS) unit falls under the Centre for e-Innovation (Ce-I) at Western Cape Government. The mandate of TAPS is to develop transversal applications, including WCG mobile platform applications and digital platforms for citizen engagement. TAPS helps to deliver service delivery excellence through information and communication technologies which is a core function of Ce-I.

Through African Ideas, the TAPS is seeking to hire an Application Tester. The role of the Application Tester encompasses many activities, including (but not limited to):

The role of the Application Tester encompasses many activities, including (but not limited to): 

• Manual Testing and all related activities: analysing business requirements, designing and executing test cases in different environments, etc. 
• Creating and updating test cases to meet the business functional requirements using Azure DevOps tool 
• Building and maintaining regression test packs 
• Performing manual execution of test cases within all test cycles (Unit, System Integration, UAT, Regression, Smoke) 
• Performing manual execution of test cases to resolve production bugs and incidents 
• Performing back-end (database) testing using complex SQL queries on Oracle and SQL Server databases 
• Performing risk-based testing on complex systems 
• API Testing

Minimum Competencies 

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or applicable courses; 
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Application Tester or equivalent role; 

Technical skills required: 

• Microsoft SQL
• SQL
• Azure DevOps
• Jira
• SOAP UI or Postman
• Agile/ Scrum experience 
• Experience with testing in Data/BI environment.
• Experience in test automation, or the use of automated testing tools within the Azure DevOps environment.
