Job Description

Area Controller (Business Controller Equivalent)

Together, with the Area Team and the Sales Market team you will work towards maximizing selling potential while driving sales performance and customer centricity in all parts of our work. Together with the Area Team you are responsible for reaching the Sales & Profit goals in your Area by securing that the stores deliver a Great Customer Experience. Acting as a leader with a strong analytical focus and knowledge-based approach; you train and coach Stores and the Area Team on controlling topics to enable our people and our business to grow.

Sales & Profit

Increase selling and profitability
  • Together with the Area Team follow up on commercial KPIs and identify commercial opportunities with the Area Team
  • Define and communicate the strategy to reach the Country goals together with the Area Team
  • Budget Sales, Hours and Salaries for all stores in your Area and in line with the Country goals
  • Perform monthly P&L analysis to determine actions to improve the results
  • Work proactively and forecast selling and salary cost development alongside the Area team to take the necessary actions to drive selling and increase profitability
  • Initiate and take part in frequent follow-up and information meetings with Store Management and Area Team. Be an ambassador for a profitability mind-set
Secure correct scheduling
  • Follow up sales and hours planning to support and educate the Stores in aligning sales planning and scheduling to improve efficiency and drive a great customer experience
  • Ensure salary cost budget is considered when planning
  • Set hourly function plan with Store Management to enable strong and efficient Store Operations
  • Together with the Area Team, set the desired contract structure in line with country goals
  • Secure strong execution by aligning function plan, schedules and contract structure continuously
  • Make frequent store visits to follow up and coach management team on Controlling topics to secure a great customer experience
  • Monitor and analyse your Areas future needs, including team rotation and expansion for all store positions
Secure best practice garment availability
  • Review concept selling performance and ensure right stock levels and garment availability with Merchandising Team and Store Management
  • Drive commerciality and selling by coaching the Store Team on the right way to work with garments
  • Secure best practice to maximise size availability
  • Support Security Function on ensuring health & safety, legal and security issues are being handles to H&M standards and local laws
People & Teams
  • Partner with Country Controller, Area HR and Area Manager to identify, recruit, develop and train Controlling talent in order to support the business needs. Communicate clearly about business performance and goals to your Stores and Area Team
  • Support your Area Team members with clear analysis to support their development and actions
  • Educate and coach Store Management and Area Team members on all controlling aspects

  • Have ability to secure and retain top talent through focused training, development and strong succession planning.
  • Have strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to determine key priorities
