De Beers Technology has operations in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa and is part of the De Beers Group. We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations. We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.
The Company has an excellent record in successful project delivery which with over 140 projects delivered in the last 22 years focused on the establishment and development of a fleet of sampling and mining ships and all associated equipment. On the base of this successful track record, we have a strategic intention to expand our project offering to De Beers land-based operations.
Job Description
Current and anticipated future increase in workload within the De Beers Ignite Commercial Technology team, necessitates for a need to employ a young and dynamic electrical artisan to carry out electrical assembly and wiring of machines and parts to expected quality standards and taking into account safety related matters.
Due to the small nature of De Beers Ignite production team, the prospective incumbent is required to carry out additional related tasks.
The requisite skills sought for this position are an ability to read, interpret, and assemble electric and control system panels and machines. Drilling, tapping, basic grinding and electronic soldering skills are an additional requirement.
Qualifications
- A minimum of N3 Electrical qualification or an equivalent Electrical qualification. A trade certificate is recommended.
- Electrical assembly of low voltage electric panels or machines or other switchgear at voltage levels from 5V DC up to 240V AC,
- An ability to read and interpret electrical drawings is a must.
- Basic hand skills and use of basic electrical tools is a must.
- A minimum 3 years post qualification experience is a must,
- Experience in a manufacturing environment would be advantageous,
- Computer literacy in the Microsoft suite of packages is recommended,
- Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal),
- A valid code drivers license will be advantageous.
