The position can be based in the Cape Town, Johannesburg or Durban office.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the team management, alongside existing colleagues, this role will involve guiding on a range of technical tasks.
- Providing technical guidance, mentoring and supervision of more junior staff members, and delivering a dynamic engagement in skills capacity building in technical appraisal across the firm.
- Develop reports and provide a design/review of engineering solutions and implementation.
- Guide and be accountable for the development and design of hydraulic models and management solutions.
- Manage project teams to ensure the production of deliverables such as quality, timeliness, and budget.
- Coordinate staff resources between projects and reliable senior management in business and technical development.
- Passionate about both the environment and the use of digital tools and models.
- Deep technical knowledge in hydraulic modelling, in particular applied for fluvial flood risk management.
- A strong hydrology background.
- Knowledge in the use of HEC - RAS (1D, 1D/2D and 2D) or similar software.
- Extensive knowledge in the flooding sector within Africa.
- A relevant undergraduate degree, with a master's or equivalent experience.
- Professional registration with either ECSA or SACNASP, or other appropriate institution or willing to pursue professional registration.
- Knowledge in the use of GIS, pluvial flood risk management will be advantageous.
- Knowledge in Flood Modeler Pro, Tuflow, and other industry standard software will be advantageous but not compulsory.
