We are looking for a tech-savvy Assistant Accountant to join our fast-paced and agile Finance Team that is highly motivated and deadline driven. The ideal candidate will be someone with a keen sense of delivery, self-accountability and ownership who is willing to go the extra mile to meet organizational goals.
Yoco is operating as a distributed company with growing global talent hubs, and will accept applications from Africa, Europe, UK and the Middle East.
ROLE | WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?
Key responsibilities:
- General ledger and bank/credit card reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules where necessary;
- Month-end reporting through general ledger summaries and ensuring all transactions are accurately captured by cost centre, product and region;
- Perform trend analysis between periods and identify reasons for variances;
- Investigate reconciliation anomalies and resolve them timeously;
- Liaise with banks, vendors and auditors where required;
- Provide support in respect of any ad-hoc activities or projects as required by the business;
- Maintaining customer and supplier details in the accounting system;
- Daily processing and reconciliation of customer and supplier invoices;
- Monthly reconciliation of customer and supplier accounts against statements and following up on outstanding accounts;
- Managing group mailboxes, accounts payable workflows and related tools;
- Attending to staff queries;
- Assist in maintaining accurate and complete fixed asset registers; and
- Assist in monthly supplier payment runs
Key requirements to perform responsibilities successfully:
- Sound knowledge of the accounts payable process with the ability to understand and interpret contracts as well as understand legal and financial terminology
- Two or more years of work experience in assistant accountant capabilities to ensure sound accounting knowledge
- An understanding of Profit and Loss and Balance sheet and their correlation
- Intermediate to advanced level of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
- Qualification in Accounting preferred
- Maintain excellent general ledger working practices
- Must have a passion for accurate and complete financial reporting
- Ability to work independently and remotely while also part of a team
- Fantastic customer service ethic, high expectations for quality and attention to detail
- Self-directed, willing to experiment and not afraid to fail
- You don't mind getting your hands dirty
- Professional Accounting Qualification.
- Experience working with a multi-company group and multi-currency.
- Experience with Netsuite.
