Our organisation is on the lookout for an Assistant Accountant: VAT & TAX who will ensure that the relevant Revenue Authorities are provided with the appropriate financial information on a timeous basis. Further, implementation of group policies and procedures to ensure sound tax management and control of the Companys business. We are looking for someone who will be responsible for precise and timely submissions of all tax related matters of the Group communicated by the Finance Manager: Reporting & Taxation.
As an Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for:
Value-Added Tax Compliance
- Compile monthly input and output VAT reports from the system
- Perform monthly input and output VAT reconciliations for each statutory company prior to return submissions
- Review VAT statement of accounts for reasonability based on the trend of prior submissions
- Accurately and timeously complete and submit VAT returns, related payments, and monthly VAT accounting entries
- Review and compare, monthly, internal VAT accounting with SARS statement of accounts to ensure they are reconciled
- Assist with other necessary tax compliance across direct and indirect taxes
- Assist with checking of Income Tax Assessments
- Assist with drafting and submitting of objections to SARS
- Assist with the calculation, preparation and submission of Provisional tax returns
- Assist with obtaining Tax Clearance certificates from SARS
- Assist with VAT and PAYE registrations from SARS
- Respond to SARS on a regular basis within stipulated timeframes to ensure all supporting document requests and requirements have been adhered to
- Engage on an operational level with internal stakeholders to facilitate effective VAT risk management
- Attend to enquiries from SARS, ensuring that tax affairs are kept up to date and that SARS deadlines are met
- Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained
- Demonstrate consistent application of internal procedures
- Plan and prioritise, demonstrating abilities to manage competing demand
To qualify for this role, you should have
- BCom Accounting qualification / (SAIPA accreditation)
- 3- 4 years articles experience with exposure to all tax types; with at least 2 years post articles experience
