Purpose
Stewardship will ensure the responsible management, including all compliance obligations, , seed treatments and traits from their inception (discovery) through to their ultimate use and discontinuation.
The South Africa Stewardship Manager will leverage strong stewardship cultures to lead the industry and enable the Ag Division & its customers freedom to operate globally.
Organisation
The RSA Stewardship Assistant will report to the EMEA Stewardship Leader and is part of the EMEA Stewardship team. The RSA Stewardship Assistant gets functional guidance from the AME Stewardship Leader
Location
Location for the South Africa Stewardship Assistant will be Centurion in South Africa. This role will support the entire Corteva business in South Africa, including Pioneer and Pannar.
Key Responsibilities
General Stewardship across platforms
- Set RSA Stewardship priorities with the AME Stewardship Leader and Country leader resulting in Country Stewardship Strategic plan for both Seed/Biotech business with actions that are tracked.
- Promote Stewardship Best Practices in RSA including IRM, HRM, WRM and IPM.
- Find opportunities for and manage stewardship training programs internally and externally and serve as an expert on stewardship matters.
- Support country team complying with regulatory requirements, internal stewardship standards, contract stewardship clauses and legal product registration requirements such as adverse effects reporting or risk mitigation measures.
- Support Country teams preparing for Stewardship Reviews of portfolio.
- Support Country team in preparing for Country Audits including Excellence Through Stewardship (ETS) for biotech seeds and providing post audit support.
- Ensure country team implements Compliance and Stewardship Incident Response process, including linkage to emergency response and complaints management and be the primary contact for stewardship incidents in RSA.
- Provide trial compliance support for IFS trials and GMO regulated trials
- Support implementation of MITT/SAP systems across all business and research platforms.
- Knows the Stewardship obligations in Strategic in licensing trait Agreements, guides 3rd party contractors for monitoring in-field compliance and obtains and submits monitoring reports to licensors.
- Guides the team on what stewardship obligations to include in out licensing trait agreements and monitors licensees on compliance.
- Develops and IRM strategy and roadmap including a monitoring plan, unexpected damage guidelines, damage investigation protocols and plan to assess IRM compliance in co-ordination with the Global IRM Stewardship Lead.
- Develops Technology Use Agreements, Product Use Guides, training templates and provides training to 3rd parties / licensees.
- Create and maintain contract(s)/ Assessment documents for refuge field monitoring as part of permit conditions.
- Support 3rd Party distributors, like Limagrain and Agricol, of Corteva GMO traits on stewardship compliance including training
- Liaise with organisation such as Croplife/SANSOR/AfricaBio/IRAC/ISAAA/ETS.
Qualifications
- Preferably 5 years experience in Agricultural business, preferably seeds
- Fluent in English
- Self-starter
- Flexible to Travel
- Agriculture or Biology University Degree
