The South African National Council for the Blind (SANCB) is inviting applications for an Assistive Technology Product Support Specialist to join their Team.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Primary tasks:
- End-user assistive product needs assessment.
- Product demonstration.
- Quotation preparation and submission.
- Product installation and configuration.
- 1-on-1 and group product orientation, instruction and training.
- Product support.
- Secondary tasks:
- Assist with daily operational planning and management in consultation with Enterprise Shop team.
- Exhibition planning and management in consultation with Enterprise Shop team and other departments when deemed necessary.
- Compile consultation reports, needs assessments and written motivations.
- New Product evaluation and testing.
- Ongoing development of product support systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Special-project management in consultation with team and other departments when deemed necessary.
- Preparation of press releases and the writing of articles regarding products available from the Enterprise Shop.
- 3. In addition to the primary and secondary tasks, you might on occasion be called upon to assist with:
- Department management.
- Orders processing.
- Product ordering and supplier liaison.
- Product training course syllabus development.
- Course scheduling and planning.
- Business development and dealer network liaison.
- Internet and other research.
Education and Experience
- Relevant qualification: Diploma / Degree will be advantageous
- 3 – 4 years’ Experience blind sector
- Knowledge of assistive hardware and software including but not limited to installation and training;
- Knowledge of all the major Braille displays, embossers, software and other hardware offered by assistive technology manufacturers and suppliers
- Working knowledge of CRM systems
