Job Description:

The School Aftercare Center is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Manager Assistant to provide support in running the aftercare center in the absence of the Manager.

The Manager Assistant will be responsible for ensuring children are brought to aftercare from school and extra mural activities, maintaining the care and well-being of all children, assisting with homework supervision and assessment preparation for girls in Grade 1-7, overseeing existing staff, preparing classrooms and activities, and liaising with teachers and parents, and performing any tasks assigned from time-to-time. The Manager Assistant will also be responsible for organizing and preparing registers and lunch registers using Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities:
  • Shadow the Manager and assist with all aspects of running the aftercare center in her absence.
  • Ensure that children are safely brought to aftercare from school and/or extra mural activities.
  • Maintain the care and well-being of all children in the aftercare center.
  • Assist with homework supervision for girls in Grade 1-7 and preparation for assessments for girls in Grade 4-7.
  • Oversee existing staff and provide support as needed.
  • Prepare classrooms, crafts, and games for afternoon activities.
  • Liaise with teachers and parents to ensure smooth operations of the aftercare center.
  • Organize and prepare registers weekly and lunch registers monthly using Microsoft Excel.
Requirements:
  • Own reliable transport to commute to the aftercare center.
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to communicate in any of the other official languages of South Africa as an added advantage.
  • Ability to swim to ensure safety during swimming activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for organizing and preparing registers.
  • Comfortable working with children and maintaining a safe environment.
Education
  • Minimum requirement of a Matric certificate.
Current working Hours:
  • Monday to Friday during normal school term: 10:30 to 17:30.
  • During school holidays: 07:15 to 17:00.
Salary:
  • Salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience and qualifications, considering aftercare budget ranges.
