An opportunity has arisen for an Associate / Senior Associate to join our Banking and Finance Department in Cape Town.
The work
The successful candidate will be exposed to a wide variety of banking and finance work, including transactional work (debt and preference share), restructuring, fund formation, sustainable finance and ESG, financial services regulatory advisory and transactional work for regulated entities.
The team is busy and the practice very varied, its a great opportunity for someone who is a self-starter and able to work well within a team environment.
Key responsibilities:
Drafting, reviewing and amending finance documentation
Research and advisory work
Transaction management
Managing client expectations and deadlines
Collaborating across teams, departments and jurisdictions in a fast paced, intellectually rigorous environment
Demonstrating leadership, taking initiative and responsibility for work
Recognising opportunities for business development, assistance with and implementation of group and firm-wide business development strategies
Proactive engagement with clients both on and off deal with a view towards building and maintaining strong client relationships
Manage and implement the firm's internal policies and procedures;

Admitted Attorney
Outstanding academic credentials
Resilient self-starter with the intellectual curiosity and versatility to continuously acquire, build upon and share knowledge
Evidence of a keen interest in financial services regulatory work
Highly motivated team player with excellent organisational skills
Clear and concise verbal and written communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills and an attention to detail
A person of sound judgement and core values
It is essential that the candidate be prepared to work in a team environment, assisting with all aspects of practice management, practice development and client care.
This is a demanding but stimulating position which will require working outside of normal office hours, when necessary.
