Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Finance

The School of Economics and Finance (SEF) is one of six schools in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. The school offers an active research environment and unrivalled access to industry and international bodies, as a result of being in the countrys industrial heartland. SEF invites applications for the above position in order to fill vacancies in the Finance Division of SEF.
Requirements:
The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in the following:
Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Investments and/or Corporate Finance
Research
Supervision of postgraduate students
Administration and academic citizenship activities
Minimum qualifications:
Applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer should meet the following qualification requirements:
PhD degree in the field of Finance, or a combination of a Masters degree in the field of Finance and a CFA.
A track record of research consistent with appointment at the Senior Lecturer level
Evidence of successful teaching and supervision of postgraduate students.
Contribution to administration and academic citizenship activities.
Applicants for the position of Associate Professor should meet the following qualification requirements:
PhD degree in the field of Finance
An established track record of high-quality publications consistent with appointment at the level of Associate Professor
Successful teaching and supervision of postgraduate students. Successful supervision of PhDs will be an added advantage
Contribution to administration and academic citizenship activities
Evidence of leadership and recognition in the local/international academic community.
The Business Finance curriculum taught by the Finance Division of SEF rests on two core pillars, namely Investments and Corporate Finance. Applicants in the field of specialization in Investments and/or Corporate Finance should apply. Applicants with teaching and/or research experience in Fintech will have an added advantage.
