Job description

Ekapa is situated in Kimberley in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, near the Free State border. Ekapa Mining is the 100% owner of Ekapa Resources and Ekapa Minerals. Ekapa Resources is the owner of the underground mining rights and Ekapa Minerals is the owner of the surface mining rights. It is operated as one entity and comprises five units, namely Joint Shaft, Wesselton, Combined Treatment Plant (CTP), Surface Mining, and Services and Support.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for auto electrical maintenance and repairs on all Trackless Mobile Machines (TMM) and auto electrical equipment.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring and electronic components in TMMs and equipment.
• Maintain and repair air conditioner units.
• Strip, analyse, repair, and inspect failures to determine root causes and prevent recurrences.
• Responsible for identifying and reporting faults when working with hydraulic valves (components) that are electronically operated.
• Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all equipment within the area of responsibility and ensure the availability of machinery.
• Re-wiring of machinery; upgrading of systems according to standards and procedures.
• Maintain batteries and ensure safe storage and a safe environment for batteries.
• Conduct pre-use inspections on machinery and equipment.
• Adhere to the breakdown call-out procedure.
• Perform risk assessments (activity based and mini)
• Follow instructions as per the job card and report any defects.
• Inspect and test machines, equipment, and parts for legal compliance.
• Ensure good housekeeping and lockout when required.
• Comply with health and safety standards, procedures, and COPs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• N2 Certificate and Auto/Electrician Trade Certificate
• 3 years post Apprenticeship experience as an Electrician/Auto Electrician in a mining environment
• Computer Literate
• Valid Drivers License

OTHER SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

• Have extensive knowledge of Atlas and Sandvik drill rigs, Atlas Scoops, and Resemin bolters
