For over 90 years, our client has been a leading force in Dutch waste management. With 800 dedicated employees across 18 locations, they annually process 3.6 million tons of waste into raw materials and energy. They convert organic waste (GFT) into biogas and compost. Plastic, metal, and beverage cartons are extracted from waste, sorted, and recycled into new raw materials. From residual waste, they separate packaging waste to produce heat, electricity, biogas, and construction materials from the remaining waste. They process rubble and contaminated soil into clean construction materials. Their landfills serve as a safe final destination for waste streams they aim to remove from the environment.

The vacancy for the position of Automation Engineer at our clients location in Drenthe is open to applicants interested in a challenging role within the Process Automation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of process control and management systems, ensuring the functionalities and quality of these systems are maintained. This role also involves ensuring the correct usage of the systems by users, with a strong focus on (cyber) security and workplace safety. Collaborating with colleagues to maintain a safe working environment is a crucial aspect of this role.

Tasks

• Systems maintenance.
• Engineer changes in SCADA and PLC systems and ensure proper archiving.
• Develop proposals for functional adjustments of systems and guide the implementation and technical realization of projects, including conducting acceptance tests.
• Take a proactive role in answering questions and supporting users of the systems.

Requirements

• A relevant bachelors or masters degree.
• Experience within a similar role.
• Knowledge of applications such as Siemens S7, Siemens TIA Portal, and Wonderware Archestra/Intouch.
