Specific roles:
- Proficient with Setup, installation, maintenance and support of hardware, software and operating systems using MS Systems Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Systems Centre Operations Manager (SCOM).

- Software and operating system maintenance and control:
- Installation and maintenance of all applicable software
- Replication, distribution and control of all software
- Change and version management of all software, including monitoring and maintenance of accurate patch levels and release levels
- Software license management and control ensuring strict adherence to license agreement
- Server capacity planning:
- Recommend timeous upgrades CPU, memory and storage to servers
- Installation and extension of capacity upgrades
- Proactive intervention to ensure stability
- Establish, manage and rectify capacity, workload and/or performance thresholds, reporting on exceptions
- Provide Customer with monthly capacity and performance reports
- Provide ‘medium range’, projected capacity and growth trends with recommendations for future upgrades.
- Backup of all databases and files according to agreed service level and required recovery times:
- Full backups
- Incremental backups
- Reporting on success rate of backups and potential problem areas
- Testing of backups
- Proxy server management and support
- Proxy server operating System
- Identification of prohibited sites and adding to ‘deny’ list
- Cache size management
- Cache lifetime cycle
- Cache item replacement strategy
- Cache optimisation
- Monthly security violation reports and corrective action taken.
- Setup/configure and manage secure remote connectivity to the network via remote access (RAS) or Internet access (VPN/RAS)
- Internet user access and management
- Management of Email or file transfers that have been quarantined.
- Detect, report and take corrective action on any viruses
- Interface and collaborate with 3rd party vendors
- Ability to mentor and act as team leader
Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Back Office Systems Engineer
- Relevant and valid certifications
