Requirements: As a retail grocer, we operate 7 days/week and 365 days/year. Our in-store positions are likely to include evening and weekend shifts per the needs of the business. Completion of all required local, state and federal Food and Work Safety trainings is required.

About the role: The Bakehouse Sanitation Staff works to maintain the general custodial and cleanliness maintenance in our high-volume food production & retail environment, including basic janitorial duties, dishwashing, equipment cleaning and other sanitation support as needed. Supports Production team in cleaning and sanitation functions for entire production facility. Provides exceptional service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment.

- Prepares workspace for pre-shift work, shift turnovers and end of day breakdown.
- Maintains sanitation of department specific equipment and workspace during production times. May support basic maintenance and upkeep of equipment as needed.
- Follows all necessary guidelines and equipment specific SSOPs.
- Monitors washing and sanitizing chemical supplies and alerts management or supervisors as needed for replacement orders. Maintains dish machine temperature logs.
- Uses equipment properly, including ware washer loading and unloading and storage of small wares.
- Washes dishes and wares, facility equipment, production tools, tubs, racks, and cleans dish washing machines and drying racks.
- Removes trash, waste, pallets and shipping materials from the facility.
- Removes and sorts recycling and composting.
- Cleans and maintains facility walls, floors, ceilings, walk-in coolers, proofers, retarders, freezers, and food-contact surfaces. Cleans and restocks hand-washing materials and surface sanitation products (soaps and sanitizers).
- Follows all recycling and composting guidelines.
- Understands and complies with specific shift guidelines, tasks and responsibilities.
- Elevates issues regarding safety, sanitation, and or equipment issues to management as needed.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Minimum 1 year of janitorial, dishwashing, stewarding or other similar experience preferred.
- Previous food production, food service, kitchen or general manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to learn and apply principles of safe food handling and guidelines.
- Knowledge and/or experience of SDS documentation, industrial cleaning agent handling preferred.
- Self-motivated, with high attention to detail, quality and presentation.
- Skills to read, understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.
- Tools and Equipment Used (not all inclusive): This position may be required to use the following tools and equipment: Automatic dish washing machines, power washer, electric and manual pallet jacks, ladders, carts, hand trucks, box baler, box cutter, floor scrubber, mop and broom
- Required frequently and up to continuously to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift. Sitting seldom required. Up to occasionally, dependent on location, required to climb stairs, step stool and /or ladders.
- Heavy work level is frequent, with occasional medium work level. (Worker can occasionally lift up to 100 lbs and the ability to frequently lift or carry object weighing 50 lbs.)
- Have sufficient dexterity to operate machinery such as: automatic dishwasher system, broom, mop, floor cleaning equipment, power washer, disassemble, clean and adjust facility equipment and to clear drains as necessary.
- Continuously and/or frequently required to use arms, hands and wrists; grasping/squeezing; reach at/above shoulder; reach below shoulder; bend/stoop, twist, crouch/squat
- Frequency of climbing stairs and ladders dependent on location.
- Work occurs in a retail and production environment, which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate to high noise levels and temperature extremes in controlled environments (coolers, freezers, prep areas, proofers and retarders). W
- Working in variable temperatures is typical.
- There may be exposure to dust, mold, gluten, fragrances and other fumes and airborne particles, fresh fruits, raw meats, vegetables and allergens (Dairy, soy, wheat, shellfish, fish, eggs, nuts and tree nuts)
- Work requires use of and working in proximity to industrial and commercial cleaning agents.
- This position works on or around moving machinery or moving parts.
