Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 2-3 years' bending operating experience is an advantage (bend sheet metal structural shapes to angle), preferably on a Trumpf, 3D Control, TASC 600, or Delemn bending machine.
- Technical background
- Knowledge of bending machines, geometric dimensions, and tolerances
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Able to work shifts
- Own transport
- Read and interpret drawings to comprehend work orders.
- Plan machining activities and bear in mind the work orders, priorities, and machine efficiency.
- Set up and operate the bending machine to bend sheet metal structural shapes to angle or contour specified by work order, drawings, templates, or layout.
- Select and bolt the holding clamp, die block, and guide clamp to the machine.
- Confirm the position of clamps and end stops on the machine to set specified locations of bends.
- Position the workpiece against the end stop.
- Check stock inventory to ensure that the appropriate material is available.
- Safely load and unload raw materials into the machinery.
- Meet the tolerance environments of the machine by setting gauges and measuring instruments appropriately.
- Isolate any piece that may not conform to the standards of the work order.
- Parts must be quarantined
- Supervisor to be informed and noted in bending report.
- Perform preventative and regular maintenance on machines, equipment, and tools used in all processes as directed.
- Ensure that all machines and tooling are lubricated.
