The Role

Scrum Master & Project manager

The Purpose Of This Role At Both& Is
  • To be one of the central cogs in the middle of the Both& methodology | Machine.
  • Operate on both project and business level to gather & understand user requirements,
  • Create clarity of mission, task and progress for all project stakeholders/role players,
  • Prioritise requirements according to client needs in a project management tool,
  • Groom requirements with project engineering teams to enable person-centric technical delivery.
  • Coach and guide the business on our internal methodology to facilitate delivery excellence.
Both&s project methodology is a hybrid of Waterfall & and Agile approaches, perhaps not every Scrum Master or Project Managers cup of tea :)

We Therefore Anticipate That The Suitable Candidate Will Be
  • a Scrum Master from a management consulting background,
  • or an IT / Software project manager with experience or interest in Agile,
  • or similar
Key Responsibilities, Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Guiding the team and organisation to use Agile/Scrum practices optimally, to scope commitments to clients and deliver on timeline.
  • Coaching & guiding the team on self-organisation to realise the full potential of Both&s methodology.
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
  • Help building a proactive environment where team members have the resources to "own" the product and enjoy working on it.
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right person to remove the impediment.
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem solving and care.
  • Facilitating getting the work done with a hybrid Agile or Waterfall approach, depending on the clients needs.
  • Ensuring deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint.
  • Facilitating discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Being the point of contact for external communications (e.g. from clients, their team or other stakeholders).
  • Ensuring deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint.
  • Supporting and educating the interdisciplinary project team, especially with respect to new requests, grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Providing support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Continuously improving Both&s project methodology.

Other Requirements
  • BCom / Commerce or similar degree
  • Experience at playing Project Manager role
  • First level Scrum Master certification will be preferable

  • 4+ years relevant working experience
