Operations Manager
Our team in in Johannesburg South Africa is looking for a Operations Manager who will be responsible for delivering operational excellence, cost management, system and process improvements, improving service and building team capabilities.
To ensure a streamlined value chain for the achievement of On Time In Full (OTIF) supply to the market as well as first time on spec production batches. Achieve Safety, Environmental, and Quality targets
YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Management
Manage a team of operations personnel to ensure warehouse and production staff are at all times delivering on set standards and expectations
Safeguard the site operations and contents by monitoring security procedures and protocols.
Manage and account for all receipts and despatches and communicate this effectively with the relevant departments.
Manage and optimize warehousing, production capability and transport.
Finance
Assist in the effective financial management of the operations and contribute towards company-wide financial objectives.
Responsible for budget and cost management in area of responsibility.
Stock Rotation & Space Utilisation
Continually maximise space utilisation through effective stock rotation and stacking and storage principals.
Monitor stock aging and conduct FEFO stock control on a daily and ongoing basis.
Working closely with inventory controllers on correct stock rotation and ensuring 100% stock reporting.
Planning, co-ordinating, monitoring and managing the movement of all incoming/outgoing goods.
Active planning and forecasting on warehouse space and resources in line with shipments and deliveries ensuring that unplanned events are managed and mitigated before occurrence.
Plan and conduct the stock counts as per company guidelines.
Stock management: first-expiry-first-out, quarantine, damaged, off spec and returned stock management.
Operational Requirements
Continuously target the reduction of operating costs.
Manage operational capital expenditure with respect to the motivation, submission and commissioning thereof and in accordance with the sustenance and compliance environment of the site.
Control and ensure adherence to all systems and processes.
Manage all SOPs and Work Instructions for all operations activities in line with HSE & Quality Department requirements.
Improve customer centricity: customer service via service delivery improvement, customer satisfaction, product appearance and presentation.
SHEQ
Oversee QMS and ensure all incidents, accidents and non-conformances are reported, investigated and closed out per the
HSE & Quality NCR process.
Maintain HSE standards and record keeping (evidence of), inspection checklists, toolbox training, correct PPE and site inductions as necessary.
Work closely with the HSE & Quality Department to ensure all processes and procedures are accurately followed.
YOUR PROFILE
Matric
A completed Tertiary degree/diploma in Operations/Supply Chain and/or relevant tertiary education advantageous
Minimum of 5 years experience in warehousing, production and logistics/Supply chain with sound knowledge of running warehouse/production type facilities and managing high level of stock rotation.
Knowledge of handling liquid bulk, breakbulk and palletised commodities as required.
Good Financial, mathematical and analytical skill sets.
Must possess good inter-personal, management and labour relations skills
Customer Centric and ability to work under pressure
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and influence at all levels, and to identify practical and proportionate solutions to challenging or complex issues.
