This is a direct sales role (face-to-face), where the incumbent will be required to source their own new business leads to sell combined (comprehensive) short-term insurance for car, home, and contents cover. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and have a passion for sales. The Business Development Consultant will be required to generate leads and convert them into sales. In this role, the BDC is responsible for providing excellent customer service and advice, as well as developing relationships with customers.
Qualification requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12
- FAIS Credits (min 30 credits in short-term insurance if the date of the first appointment is before 2010); or if the date of the first appointment is on or after 01/01/2010, a fully recognised qualification as per the FSCA qualification list not applicable for applicants with no STI sales experience
- RE 5 - FAIS Regulatory examination for Representatives not applicable for applicants with no STI sales experience
- 18 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points if registered for two Classes of Business (Personal plus Commercial)
- 12 CPD points if you are registered for one Class of Business (Personal or Commercial) not applicable for applicants with no STI sales experience
- Proven experience in Face-to-Face Sales experience.
- 2 - 3 years' direct sales experience selling short-term insurance either as a Broker Agent or Tied Agent.
- Alternatively, must have solid direct sales experience.
- A minimum of 2 years experience generating leads and converting them into sales (prospecting / cold calling) - managing the lead generation process
- Ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
- This role is both in the office & on the road and the successful applicant must be prepared & willing to travel to client sites for meetings, and will be required to be in the office daily for the first 3 6 months.

- Remuneration on offer is a fixed basic salary of R15 000 (no sliding scale & no retainer), plus uncapped commission, including eligibility to earn annual incentives and quarterly consistency bonus.
- Please note that after 6 months there is an opportunity to move up to an Executive Business Development Consultant level where the basic salary will increase to R20 000 per month. At the Executive Business Development Consultant level, successful incumbents will also have an opportunity to earn retention commission for business sold over time, for up to 6 years.
