What Were Looking For:
The purpose of this role is to serve as a business intelligence specialist, focusing on data analysis and operational reporting with the purpose of providing data-driven insights to business stakeholders. This is a data driven role that requires critical thinking, problem solving and data visualisation skills. This role contributes to business medium complexity visulizations, generally in singular product lines and functional areas.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Use data visualisation software (Tableau) to design, develop, and maintain metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive and track the performance of key business decisions for enterprise reporting at scale. Projects are typically short to medium term and of medium complexity, or multiple integrated components of a larger project.
- Develop data sources required for reporting purposes that meet business requirements. Cleanse and verify the integrity of the data and enhance data sources where necessary. Ensure code is thoroughly tested and that data best practices are followed.
- Build relationships with business stakeholders to: 1) Understand business requirements for data and visualisation 2) Respond to and troubleshoot issues related to reports and dashboards 3) Leverage business knowledge to create reporting solutions that enable enhanced business performance
- Develop technical skills by actively looking for opportunities to improve through stretch assignments and continuous learning
- 1-2 years of relevant analytical and visualisation experience in a professional setting
- Intermediate understanding of data visualisation using Tableau (or another data visualisation tool). Comfortable with creating different visualisations, adding filters, connecting to data sources, creating calculated fields and creating dashboards.
- Good understanding of SQL and database skills ( joins, sub queries, case statements, creating tables and views) is required
- Analytical thinker with great attention to detail; must be able to tell a story with data to provide insights to non-technical audiences.
- Must be able to confidently create written communication and documentation
- Bachelors degree is preferred, with a concentration in a mathematical or analytical field preferred (i.e.: Economics, Math, Stats, Computer Science, Engineering)
