Responsibilities
  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute procurement plans to maintain a steady supply of premium building materials at the best possible prices.
  • Supplier Management: Source, assess, and cultivate strong supplier relationships. Negotiate favourable contracts and terms to maximize value.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough industry research to track trends, pricing fluctuations, and new product developments, ensuring well-informed purchasing decisions.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee stock levels to maintain optimal inventory. Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams for efficient stock control.
  • Cost Control: Administer procurement budgets and drive cost-efficient purchasing. Identify areas for savings and process optimization.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all procured materials meet company standards. Address quality concerns with suppliers swiftly and effectively.
  • Needs Assessment: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements, ensuring timely and accurate product availability.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Work closely with sales, operations, and finance teams to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate and deliver detailed reports on procurement operations, supplier performance, and market conditions for senior leadership.
  • Team Development: Mentor and support junior buyers, fostering skill development and alignment with procurement goals.
  • Process Optimization: Establish and oversee systematic reviews of product ranges and supplier performance to ensure alignment with market trends and business needs.
  • Open-to-Buy Management: Monitor and control Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets, aligning purchasing decisions with financial targets and stock requirements. Coordinate with internal teams for effective OTB planning and execution.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in procurement (preferably in building supplies/construction).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical abilities. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the building supplies market and trends.
  • Personal Attributes: Strategic thinker, detail-oriented, problem-solver, and able to perform under pressure.
