The Buyer should be analytically minded and posses excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget with a knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous and being responsible for the high value high risk items.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure critical goods (high value, high risk) in line with the company's procurement policy and procedures.
- Analyse product and vendor spend reports to ensure that procurement is optimized from buying the right goods from the right suppliers
- Liaise constantly with production planners and demand planners to ensure Production plan and supply plan is aligned.
- Ensure that all requests from internal customers are priced, completed and returned to originator for approval.
- Comparative pricing is made on all purchases based on TCO.
- Negotiate delivery options and alternatives.
- Do Follow ups to ensure that orders are received on time and production is not impacted negatively.
- Maintain orders at month end mark for completion when fully delivered or when replaced or when replacement orders are in place.
- Identify reputable suppliers to minimize supply risk.
- Negotiate payment terms in line with FW financial requirements.
- Price increases tracked and negotiated prior to increase date.
- Report savings achieved based on TCO.
- Vendor evaluations performed on high spend vendors.
- Maintain material master data and ensure replenishment cycles are accurate for all critical items.
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
- Bachelors Degree in relevant field or similar
- At least 3 years experience in a fast paced environment (Energy Sector advantageous)
- Procurement certification would be advantageous e.g. CIPS / SAPICS etc
- ERPS System experience (SAP / Oracle Net Suite / Net Stock)
- Advanced Excel
- No Criminal Record
- Professional with excellent work standard and ethics.
