This individual will be passionate about SME funding and supporting grass roots micro-enterprises.
Over the past seven years, the Trust has made several investments in excess of R70 million and now has an SME portfolio of six established companies. The Trust has also invested in supporting township enterprises. Additionally, as part of its journey, the Trust has recently established a mid-market private equity fund, to continue its investing opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Fund raising
- Developing and executing fundraising strategies
- Conducting research on fundraising opportunities.
- Writing funding proposals and submitting these to potential donors.
- Implementing a variety of marketing strategies and promotional campaigns
- Providing updates or checking in with regular or recurring supporters
- Planning and hosting fundraising events
- Efficient management, preparation and presentation of investment memos, including mandate fit, financial analysis, operational analysis, sector impact and beneficiary developmental areas.
- To conduct the due diligence process.
- Managing stakeholders in relation to investment management with a developmental mindset, including beneficiaries, trust members and internal stakeholders.
- Support the Chief Executive Officer in the implementation of the capital raising and investment strategy aligned to the organisations overall strategy.
- Ensure strict compliance when assessing use of funds in investment cases, and adherence of beneficiaries to sound financial practices to manage return on investments for the trust.
- Support with the general management of key stakeholders (OEMs, beneficiaries and service providers), which includes regular meetings and alignment discussions.
- Manage the opportunity pipeline by analyzing, validating and collating opportunities into comprehensive reports
- Disbursement of funds to beneficiaries in alignment with the approved investment case, with assistance from the finance department.
- Compile Business Reviews post beneficiary visits, which highlight key risks, financial and operational performance of the beneficiary business.
- Closely monitor the financial performance of beneficiaries, such as the review of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, and intervene when necessary.
- Post Graduate Degree in Finance or a related field.
- MBA, Masters degree, CA(SA) or CFA (advantageous)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within South African banks, private equity firms, or developmental finance institutions.
- Proven expertise in capital raising, deal sourcing, and execution skills.
