Job Purpose
The Career Centre Coordinator is accountable for the coordination of career centre services activities and business development including workshop management and graduate placements, by setting and monitoring the achievement of targets.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assisting the manager with the planning and implementation of events i.e. exhibitions, job shadowing, learnerships, internships, voluntary work experience etc., which promotes the services offered by the department.
- Evaluating graduates after scheduled workshop/s to ensure he/she is ready for possible placement.
- Facilitating workshops to address training and development needs.
- Coordinate the scheduling and roll-out of career readiness workshops to students and graduates.
- Capture all coached graduates into the database.
- Coordinate all logistics relating to invited speakers.
- Market services of department to existing and new clients (prospective employers).
- Obtain job descriptions and company specifications for entry level positions.
- Obtain authorisation from graduates before CVs are submitted to prospective employers.
- Ask and confirm that CVs meet the expectations of the prospective employer.
- Ensure graduates are fully prepared for the interview.
- Capture data into the graduate placement worksheet.
- Interview every graduate who will be put forward for possible vacancies by the department.
- Identify and document training and development needs.
- Support graduates during the placement process by doing a follow up with employer at the end of graduates first day of work and another follow up with employer after two to four weeks after employment.
- Deliver presentation pack to prospective employers who have placed the graduates and collect placement success stories.
- Coordinate Campus Career Days, Entrepreneurship workshops and Career Expos and source and contact companies to attend present at career expos.
- Coordinate the logistics relating to guest speakers and manage logistics around this and coordinate the receipt for gifts, banners etc.
- Attend graduation ceremonies to collect data for alumni database, compile and update the database with all entrepreneurs for graduates who attended the entrepreneurship workshop.
- Update database with complete details, including: graduates new position, title and salary details.
- Request and document companys feedback on overall impression of candidates presented.
- Write reports on workshops, placements, graduate success etc. for publication by the Communications Department.
- Minimum NQF Level 6 Qualification in Human Resources/Marketing/Business.
- 1 - 2 years Career Services experience.
- 1 Sales and Marketing experience.
- Valid driving license
- Knowledge and understanding of the South African higher education systems and regulatory framework.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
