Do you want to be an integral part of a design and product creation team working in a dynamic environment?
We are looking for a young enthusiastic Designer/DTP operator who is up to date with current market trends in the Home Décor space. In this role you will be expected to be a team player who is able to design as well as co-ordinate the creation of prototype samples that will be eventually manufactured and sold into a variety of different market segments.
This job requires both creative and administrative skills, and will require working on multiple projects with committed timelines and deliverables. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, a multi-tasker, and great at coming up with practical creative design solutions that will appeal to a broad cross section of consumers.
- SALARY: R8 000 TO R10 000
Primary Objectives for Job:
• Develop new Home Décor products primarily aimed at the Wall Art and picture framing market segment
• Create presentations of those ideas to show our clients
• Supports Sales team by providing products relevant to market trends
• Research competitors’ products by identifying and evaluating their product characteristics, pricing, and advertising
• Review trends online, understanding today’s needs as well as the next seasons
• Balance product, trend, and fashion with our customer’s needs in mind
• Participate in trade shows, develop products and stand layouts for the shows
• Arrange photography of the developed products with our in-house staff
• Supply product information for cataloguing including the Spec sheets for production
• Research & design appropriate face papers, signage, general artwork and labels
• Assist with all marketing activities
• Work with minimal supervision, perform catalogue department requirements & assigned administrative tasks and materials processing
• Work varies, requiring independent judgment and initiative within a framework of established general policies and procedures
• Personal contact with fellow employees is continual, requiring strong communication skills, tactfulness, diplomacy, and good judgment under stressful situations
• Maintain/update & Uploading the catalogue & website catalogue
• Highly computer proficient
Key Competencies
• Creative, accurate & methodical, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work on relevant Apple Mac graphic design software as well as being proficient in Microsoft Office
• Excellent Verbal and written skills
• Good interpersonal skills and a team player
• Strong planning, organizing and efficient time management
• Tertiary qualification/marketing experience advantageous
• Driver’s licence and own transport
• Fluent in English both written and spoken
