Logistics Category Manager

The key purpose of this role is to define and manage category strategies and sourcing calendar for Logistics for the Africa Zone. Scope includes T1, T2, and Inbound Transport and other outsourced logistics categories that are under the control of the Regional Procurement office. Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and optimization projects for the categories per region or country. Provide regional support for categories managed by GPO. Collaborate and manage stakeholders within procurement and logistics. Drive innovation, sustainability agenda, and supply chain transformation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategic Category sourcing
  • Definition & execution of category strategies
  • Define category risk management to ensure supplier
  • Execute strategic sourcing initiatives with multi-functional teams (Zone and Country Logistics, Global and Regional Procurement, Mubex and RPSS)
  • Category and Market research and analysis
  • Manage supplier relationship and develop collaborative initiatives
  • Ensure category strategies include Innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all of the above is in line Procurement Managements System (ProMS)
Negotiation & Contracting
  • Sourcing and negotiation
  • Implementation of negotiated contracts / POs
  • Ensure contract compliance
  • Contract management including terminations
Stakeholder Management
  • Work closely with BU & Country Logistics teams for successful implementation and delivery of strategic projects and initiatives
Key Attributes and Competencies
  • Leadership skills
  • Sound knowledge of finance and accounting, ability to run/read analysis of a suppliers P&L and balance sheet
  • Effective communication
  • Ability to coordinate cross multiple functions and projects
  • Ability to conceptualize business impact focused analytics
  • Developing collaborative relationships
Minimum Requirements:
  • University Degree (Commercial or Supply Chain degree is preferred)
  • Project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills
