To support their mission, we are seeking a talented Senior Java Engineer to join their Engineering team. Responsibilities:
As a Senior Java Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Engineering Lead, Testers, and Product Owner to ensure the delivery of top-notch software solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Deeply understanding and analyzing each requirement before initiating the coding process.
- Following best practices for coding and conducting thorough testing prior to handover to the testing team.
- Performing in-depth troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues at their root cause.
- Participating actively in grooming sessions to contribute to robust design and comprehensive problem understanding.
- Reporting on the environment's health, identifying risk areas and opportunities for improvement, and implementing changes to benefit the company and reduce risk.
- Staying updated with the latest technology trends and opportunities, with a focus on benefiting the company.
- Collaboratively planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing the company's inhouse solution.
- Handling escalated service tickets and providing L2 & L3 technical support to the customer success team.
- Collaborating with the Information Security team to ensure the implementation of security, governance, and compliance tools and controls.
- Participating in audits and assessments as required to ensure compliance with ISO 27001 requirements.
- Working remotely during core hours of 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. Initially, a temporary adjustment to work between 10:00 and 19:00 may be beneficial for knowledge transfer purposes, considering the Engineering Lead's location in the USA.
- Grade 12 or equivalent (essential)
- Related tertiary qualification (desired)
- 6+ years of experience in a related field such as DevOps, Software Development, Technical Analysis, or Testing (essential)
- Proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu) (essential)
- AWS qualifications (desired)
- Knowledge of agile methodologies
- Familiarity with cloud technologies
- Expertise in Java
- Advantageous: Vaadin
- Must know: PostgreSQL
- Can learn on the job: Google Workspace
- Strong attention to detail and ability to think logically
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good understanding and familiarity with cloud infrastructure, with AWS knowledge being advantageous
- Experience with Database management, specifically Postgres
- Experience with logging and security hardening, system documentation, and designs
