The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations in order to ensure that the business meets its operational and strategic objectives in line with Astrals strategy.
Qualification Requirements:
- NDip. Animal Production or B. Agri / BSc Agric or other relevant tertiary qualification.
- 10+ years of integrated poultry farming experience.
- Poultry husbandry, breeder/grandparent stock, and hatcheries.
- 5+ years of senior management experience.
- Proven track record of achieving performance targets and objectives within a highly competitive environment.
- Strong managerial, people management, and business acumen capabilities.
- Good understanding of financial management instruments, business plans, and capital expenditure requirements.
- 20 Keys implementation.
- Strategy implementation: Plays a critical role in ensuring that strategic objectives and performance targets are effectively implemented.
- Operational management: Responsible for operational activities in terms of poultry production, the poultry supply chain, performance efficiencies, logistics, customer service, bio-security, health and safety, animal health, and business profitability.
- Financial management: Works closely with the finance team to develop budgets, manage expenses, manage cash flow, manage risks, and ensure internal control efficiencies and compliance.
- Human Resources Management: Manages employees, including hiring, training, performance management, and succession planning.
- Risk mitigation management: Manages business risk in terms of operational, financial, legal, insurance, suppliers, and reputational risks.
- Business development: Responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
- Stakeholder management: Maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders such as internal and external customers, suppliers, regulators, and industry bodies.
