Our client in the mining industry is looking for a Chief Surveyor with at least 10 years of experience in mining.
- Oversee and manage surveying activities within the client's mining operation and provide the mine with specialist Survey services and expertise, as per the Mine Health Safety Act (MHSA) terms related to a 17.2 appointment.
- Ensuring accurate measuring, mapping, and data collection to support safe and efficient mining activities.
- Provide input to strategic plans of the section by compiling comprehensive operational plans, converting the Department into an enabler of the overall business strategy of the organisation.
- Develop, enhance, and implement policies, processes and Operational procedures that are within the respective Department aimed at the enhancement of service delivery and overall productivity within the Department.
- Review and measure compliance to Group and SAMREC/PLATO evaluation and survey standards, maintaining alignment with standards.
- Draft and submit monthly production reports, ensuring accurate and timeous reporting of production results.
- Compile ore accounting reconciliation for the Mineral Resources Management section, to provide leadership with an up-to-date view of resource availability.
- Translate raw draughting information into electronic plans and diagrams, ensuring they are of an acceptable quality according to legislated requirements.
- Monitor land management and act where required, to provide expert advice on proposed change in land use.
- Monitor adherence to spatial correctness of the open pit and surface workings and advise on viability of workings to ensure these meet site specific standards.
- Set survey procedures for the Mine and disseminate best practices to ensure alignment of all activities with best practice.
- Advise on survey issues and call on specialist survey expertise if required, to resolve relevant problems in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Review and co-sign project deliverables and milestones to maintain contractual compliance.
- Test applicable new software implementations and maintain current survey services systems to ensure these are aligned with Business Requirements.
- Import and export electronic information from other systems to maintain a current record of electronic deliverables into the applicable systems.
- A B.Sc. in Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Must have a Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency
- 10 Years survey experience of which 3 years must be in a managerial position.
- Must have used CAD, GIS & Survey related packages.
- Must have a good understanding of RPL and RPAS
- Be in possession of a Drivers Licence
