- Responsible for the management, planning and control of the underwriting division.
- Applied knowledge and expertise in systems, market interface and financial implications of risks.
- Develop underwriting management capability that allows for efficient conceptualization, planning and delivery of underwriting strategies throughout business
- Manage people by executing management responsibilities and create an environment that encourages employee growth and performance excellence
- Continuously assess own performance, seek timely and clear feedback and request training where appropriate
- Manage expenditure planning and reporting within approved budget parameters for business area
- Focus on tactical service plans to deliver and continuously provide a consistent, seamless and positive customer experience
- Establish mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders that support thought leadership, innovative and integrated practice solutions
- Anticipate and meet the needs of clients and commit to continuous development and entrenchment of a customer service culture
- Oversee quality assurance and / or benchmarking to ensure high quality service delivery to clients
- Deliver business intelligence (MIS) and reports and manage underwriting risk
- Oversee the delivery of the underwriting core services (case underwriting and decisioning) within the agreed turnaround times
- Establish solutions such as reinsurers etc.
- Minimum Qualification - Relevant B degree
- Experience - 10 Years in underwriting, preferably in medical underwriting
