Job Description
The Candidate Technician performs elementary technical tasks in Civil engineering production field.
Technical Excellence
- Assist with preparation of general infrastructure designs, drafting, bills of quantities, contract documentation and tender evaluation, administration of construction contracts and ad-hoc site supervision.
- Routine/repeated tasks accomplished within assistance.
- Receives guidance or direction from others with limited discretion to vary from established procedures.
- Contributes by performing routine, structure work assignments in specific job function, expanding complexity of tasks performed.
- Follow standard operating procedures/methodologies, using them to solve routine or standard problems. Identifies problems in existing procedures.
- General proficiency with tools, systems and procedures required for role.
- May need continued support on some technical issues.
- Conducts engineering design drafting under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Creates designs, basic calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems and for drafting.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision. Lower order mechanical/civil engineering design on water related projects.
- Drafting including 3D design capabilities using Revit 3D and Civil 3D.
- Experience on Plant 3D and Inventor would be favorable and exposure to BIM level 2 competence.
- Experience in water related infrastructure is preferred (Pump stations, Water and Wastewater Treatment Works, Pipelines etc.)
- An intermediate user in Autodesk Revit Software (Buildings) / Autodesk Civil 3D (Civils) / Revit / Plant 3D, or similar, who can draw/model with limited supervision having the ability to create content within a specific discipline. Must also be an intermediate user in other core discipline specific software.
- 2-3 Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification
- National Diploma (3 yrs)
- Registered as a Candidate Technician with ECSA
