Duties
This position serves as Workers' Compensation Claims Manager within CBP's Workers' Compensation Branch (WCB) headquartered in Washington, DC. This position starts at a salary of $103, 409.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $158, 860.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $158, 860.00 (GS-14 Step 10). Typical duties include: Develops, executes, and evaluates case management activities of CBP's workers' compensation benefits program. Performs qualitative audits to evaluate case management effectiveness and efficiencies of workers' compensation branch. Participates in resolution of a broad programmatic issues that significantly impact the administration of this CBP-wide statutory benefits program and reviews the impact of legislative or regulatory proposals involving myriad aspects of the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA). Ensuring the strategic plan, mission, vision, and values of CBP are effectively communicated throughout the Branch; integrates team's goals, objectives, work plans and work products to ensure services are consistent with national priorities and are efficient, timely, and economical.

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing expert technical and administrative guidance to a workers' compensation personnel responsible for processing and managing claims filed by CBP employees injured in the performance of duty. Overseeing investigations of suspected injury compensation claim fraud, waste, or abuse and recommends corrective action. Participating in the development and implementation of current and future programs which involve complex and controversial issues and problems. Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing quality oversight of claims functions to ensure quick recognition of emerging problems and prompt response to management needs. Overseeing case management functions to be accomplished by workers compensation personnel, sets and adjusts short-term program priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Exercising a high degree of customer service skill during interaction and contacts, collaborates with high-level management to develop agency positions, proposals, and develops strategies on complex issues including controversial items requiring modification or adaptation of guidelines where no clear precedent exists.
