Claims Specialist

About The Role

You will get a chance to effectively manage our claim liability through implementing appropriate client and claims management / risk management strategies.

You will work closely with Client Markets and Underwriting to provide outstanding service to our Clients and collaborate with Actuarial Team for Claims Data analysis and interpretation with appropriate feedback to future Product development and Pricing as well as suggest appropriate interventions to improve the portfolio experience.
  • Adjudication of Life Insurance claims across all product lines and provide expert opinions on complex case referrals.
  • Conduct Claims Reviews within an internal framework.
  • Provide advice on local and international best practices in claims management.
  • Develop training materials and presentations in line with client requirements and emerging topics.
  • Support the Business Unit in tendering for new business and product development.
  • Participate in ad-hoc and ongoing Local and Global Claims projects as required.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Establish and maintain excellent client relationships and respond to their changing needs.
About You

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. The ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills, and be proficient in problem-solving, decision-making, and multi-tasking. Additionally, they should possess the ability to examine and validate data to understand reasons and trends behind the numbers, and effectively communicate decisions to clients. The ability to prioritize tasks, demonstrate flexibility, and adopt new ways of working is essential. Experience in team collaboration and building cross-functional working relationships is also highly valued.

  • Bachelor's degree in the health-related field, insurance field or allied health professional along with a minimum of 5-10 years' experience in direct insurer or reinsurer claims management.
  • Experience of delivering excellent training and quality presentations to a professional audience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates.
