The Ivan Toms Centre of Health has provided HIV and health services to Men who have sex with Men (MSM) in the Cape Town metro for over 14 years. We are looking for an energetic and dynamic Clinical Nurse Practitioner to lead the nurse-led clinical services offered through the centre as well as its community-based mobile services teams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide Clinical Services to Clients at our Facility and Community-Based Mobile Teams.
- Ensure all clinical service provision remains in line with national, provincial and site-level guidelines.
- Provide key population competent and sensitive care to all clients to ensure an enabling and welcoming environment.
- Ensure clients are appropriately screened, counselled and initiated onto ART or PrEP as required.
- Maintain service points and spaces according to clinical guidelines including all COVID-19 precautions.
- Conduct quality assurance procedures to ensure NDOH guidelines and programme requirements are fully implemented.
- Maintain client engagement to support long-term retention in care.
- Facilitate client referrals and confirmed linkage for supplemental care as required by site-level and project guidelines.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure appropriate coverage of clinical services across all client access points.
- Accurately record and daily collate patient-level data through established reporting and management systems.
- Provide reports on HTS, ART and other facility activity reports as and when required.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required
- A Clinical Nurse Practitioner qualification.
- Proven experience in providing competent clinical care for men who have sex with men or other key populations is required.
- Experience in HIV, STI and TB management is required.
- NIMART trained and certified as competent to work independently with at least two years experience is preferred.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council is required.
- Experience working in target-driven, PEPFAR-funded environment is strongly preferred.
- Previous PrEP implementation and training is highly advantageous.
- Willingness to provide clinical services in facility as well as on community-based mobile units is required.
- Willingness to work flexible hours is required.
- Ability to work independently with strong patient triage skills.
- Valid drivers license and willing to travel as and when required.
- Computer literate MS Office (Outlook, word, excel & PowerPoint).
- Ability and willingness to work with a wide variety of diverse team members and clients.
- Good report writing skills.
