YOUR ROLE:
As a Cloud Software Engineer, you will be co-designing, building, testing and implementing software solutions. We are looking for someone who thinks outside the box, is passionate about innovation, challenges the status quo and has high energy levels.
We will require from you to be autonomous and proactive to provides subject matter expertise and a high level of internal consulting support on the analysis, design, programming, debugging, modification, and maintenance of software enhancements and/or new products.
YOUR TEAM:
You will be working within the development team building strong relationships with management, subject matter experts, application designers and system specialists. In this role you will be reporting to the Director of Software Engineering.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understanding design principles and a detailed knowledge of database architectures
- Designing tools for systems to meet business needs
- Delivering technical visualisation of proposed application architecture to your technical lead
- Contributes to best practice system and application design
- Designing, coding and testing programs and scripts from agreed specification
- Ensuring agreed standards and tools are in place to achieve a well-engineered product
- Conducting releases to production environments and setting up post release reviews
- Analysing release components
- Takes part in reviewing own work and leads reviews of colleagues work (unit testing, code review)
- Supporting team members with technical challenges while following best practice methods
- Contributing ideas and experience to new development solutions
- Provide support in development processes and techniques
- Maintaining knowledge of specific specialisms (e.g.: React JS, GoLang)
- Developing specialist knowledge of database concepts and data modelling techniques.
- Analysing data requirements to establish, adapt and maintain data models.
- Close cooperation with development team and business to carry out builds and testing
- Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, modifies, and maintains software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs.
- May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
- Assists in the preparation of costs analyses and justifications of software enhancements and/or new products.
- Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Monitors effective hardware utilization, reviews system logic for optimum throughput.
- Code may be used in commercial or end-user applications, such as desktop applications, mobile apps or financial management.
- Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications.
- May have responsibilities for process and/or people management.
- Experience working in a similar position
- 5+ years experience working as a Backend developer
- Experience using build tools (Docker)
- Exposure to JavaScript libraries and frameworks
- Management of Linux Services
- Good understanding of database design and management
- Solid understanding of code versioning
Desired
- Postgraduate qualifications in an IT related field
- Five (5) years experience in systems and software development with Golang, Docker/Kubernetes, Rest, and Terraform
- Microsoft Certifications. Experience with MS Azure, Spark, Devops pipeline, Graphql, Jenkins, Git and Agile would be nice to have.
