The HIV, AIDS, STIs and TB (HAST) research programme within the HSRC is currently completing the 2017 South African National HIV prevalence, Incidence, Behaviour and Communication Survey (also known as SABSSM V) and is looking for Afrikaans speaking community liason officers.
Job responsibilities:
- Attend a 1-day training session in full;
- Ensure full understanding of the project processes;
- Work within a team.
- Liaise with all available community structures to provide entry to teams working in the area e.g. neighbourhood watch, community forums, police stations, estate managers, body corporates, ward councilors etc. Fieldwork to be implemented in gated communities, farms and more affluent areas of the country.
- Provide potential participants information about the project.
- Ensure quality work by following processes, procedures and steps
Job requirements:
- Above average ability to read, write and speak Afrikaans is essential.
- Willingness to liaise and communicate in Afrikaans with community structures in gated communities, farms and more affluent areas of the country
- The applicant should be in possession of at least Grade 12. Prior relevant working experience in field work/interviews, would be an advantage.
- Available for a period of 1 months.
- Have an outgoing personality that enables you to communicate easily with strangers.
- Willingness to work in a team.
- Willingness to travel long distances, within and outside of one’s province.
- Willingness to visit selected households during weekends and after hours.
- Be committed and apply self-discipline to completing one’s task as required
- Preference will be given to applicants based in Gauteng
