About The Role
As a Compliance Manager, you will provide expert legal advice and support to the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing legal risks, and contributing to strategic decision-making. Your role will involve drafting and reviewing contracts, negotiating agreements, and representing the company in legal proceedings.
Responsibilities
Compliance
- Ensuring compliance with data protection laws including POPIA and GDPR, in consultation with Holding Company Privacy team
- Establishing, implement, and maintain a regulatory compliance management framework and function in line with risk management framework and group/holding company requirements.
- Creating, update, and monitor compliance with primary and secondary legislation.
- Assisting business in creating processes to mitigate identified compliance risks.
- Training employees on compliance policies and legislation, including drafting training materials.
- Addressing compliance-related queries from within the business
- analysing legislation and advise business on regulatory changes impacting compliance management.
- Ensuring compliance with holding company internal audit requirements annually
- Centralizing the legal process within the Group of Companies
- Acting as intermediary between the company, its lawyers, and any legal business requirements
- Drawing up and review company commercial agreements (e.g., service level agreements, independent contractor agreements, NDAs, sponsorships, license agreements, management contracts)
- Reviewing external commercial agreements from clients and suppliers in consultation with the Department Head
- Assisting with acquisition and due diligence documentation in consultation with FD/MD/Holding company
- Managing trademark registrations in consultation with Holding Company IP team and lawyers
- Containing legal costs within the allocated annual spend
- Updating and manage all agreements per Holding Company requirements and applicable laws.
- Managing the Disaster Recovery (DR) process annually in conjunction with holding company and business unit.
- Addressing concerns and improve systems based on annual DR testing results.
- Liaising Quarterly with Department Heads to ensure Recovery Task Lists are current.
- Managing the Business Continuity process and keep documentation updated based on Department Heads' inputs.
- Conducting annual Business Continuity Plan (BCP) testing and implement improvements based on testing results.
- Training staff on BCP annually.
- Budgeting for future expenses related to DR/BCP planning.
- Possess LLB degree.
- Have an understanding of rules, laws, regulations, and standard industry practice of the exhibitions sector.
- Experience reviewing and drafting contracts and policies.
- Sound understanding of administrative and contractual law.
- Have knowledge of commercial law, contract law, and commercial transactions law
- Possess Analytical skills for quick analysis of applicable landscape and outcomes.
- Have basic financial understanding.
- Have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
