Compliance and Regulations Manager

  • Job Purpose
  • Provide advice, guidance, and recommendations on the adherence to regulatory compliance practices in client-facing divisions, ensuring compliance regulatory risks are identified, assessed, and reported on for the ZA namespace.
  • Job Responsibilities Identify and manage all Regulatory requirements of the .za namespace which include:
  • Provide expert guidance and recommendations and ensure the organisation's adherence to the laws, regulations, charters, and policies governing the .za namespace.
  • Conduct compliance regulatory assessments, keeping all external stakeholders informed and updated on regulatory changes and policy requirements.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with external company stakeholders (registries, registrars etc) by establishing effective partnerships to identify and manage compliance regulatory risks.
  • Keep abreast of all regulatory developments/changes that may potentially impact the .za namespace and engage with all relevant external stakeholders on a timely basis to ensure business readiness and ongoing compliance risk management.
  • Contribute to the creation of a compliance culture and compliance awareness within the organisation by becoming a trusted advisor.
  • Execute all Regulatory Compliance projects (end-end) within set timelines.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and recommendations on whether regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting on any namespace non-compliance, the management and state of Second-Level Domains (SLDs) compliance, risks, and mitigation measures.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to stakeholders on the state of regulatory compliance by reporting on how key risks are being managed, highlighting areas that require immediate attention, and recommending corrective action to and by stakeholders.
  • Manage the information requests from the organisation stakeholders in alignment with the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) and develop all commentary and/or impact assessment requests from various Regulatory Bodies and government entities.
  • Take an active part in Regulatory development and compliance governance processes on behalf of the organisation.
  • Assist in filing regulatory reports to the respective regulators, keeping the organisation in good standing with regulatory bodies.
  • Qualification: Minimum requirements include:
  • LLB Degree;
  • Admitted Attorney;
  • Member of the compliance institute of SA would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum experience:
  • 3-4 years experience in a regulatory compliance position, 2 of which must have been in a managerial role.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, analysing, and monitoring efficiency, productivity, and improvement of process initiatives within a regulatory environment.
  • Competencies
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of key legislation and standards, such as the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 2002 (ECTA), POPIA, and other applicable laws (including subordinate legislation and international standards) that impact the organisation.
  • A solid understanding and mitigation of all high-risk legislation that applies to the organisation.
  • Writes in a well-structured and logical way - must have the ability to write and review legislative framework, compliance guidance notes, and reports with the detail required to inform the industry of regulatory requirements and potential impacts.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional projects involving IT governance, law, cybersecurity, and business process improvements.
  • Must possess people management skills.
CTC: R520, 000 - R600, 000 CTC per annum depending on experience. Medical aid and retirement benefits included.
