Compliance Officer

Job Summary

The compliance officer is responsible for ensuring that Banxso follows all the relevant laws and regulations and industry standards pertaining to online trading by mitigating all possible risks.

This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and reputation of Banxso by preventing and detecting potential violations and unethical behaviour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant financial laws and regulations, such as anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC), security regulations, and data protection laws.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: develop and implement internal policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams to address issues or factors that may impact customers decisions to ensure a cohesive approach to customer retention, maximising on opportunities and Banxsos revenue growth.
  • Risk Assessment: conduct risk assessments to identify compliance risks within the organisation and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Training and Education: Provide training to employees on compliance-related matters to raise awareness and promote a culture of compliance throughout the organisation.
  • Reporting and Documentation: maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities, reports, and incidents as required by regulators.
  • Internal Investigations: investigate potential compliance violations, unethical behaviour and conduct or suspicious activities within the organisation and take appropriate action based on the findings.
  • Communications with regulators: act as the main point of contact with regulatory authorities and respond to inquiries or audits from relevant regulatory authorities and bodies.
  • Compliance Audits: conduct internal compliance audits to assess the effectiveness of compliance programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Technology and Data Management: utilize technology and data analytics to enhance compliance monitoring and reporting capabilities.
  • Ethics and Code of Conduct: develop and enforce a code of conduct and ethics to ensure that employees adhere to the highest ethical standards of international and professionalism.

  • Advisory Role: provide guidance to management and staff on compliance matters, new regulations and potential risks flagged and observed.
  • Changes and updates to Regulations: stay up to date with changes in the financial regulations and industry trends to adapt Banxsos compliance accordingly.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in law, finance, or business management
  • Certificate endorsed by the compliance institute of Southern Africa (CISA)
  • 3 years + proven experience in a financial regulatory field (FSP) as a compliance officer
  • Good working and practical knowledge of compliance law and legislation
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with all stakeholders.
